VCU In-Person Campus Tours and Virtual Information Sessions

We are excited to offer multiple options to visit and learn more about our dynamic university.

In-person campus tours are held Monday through Saturday at various times for prospective and admitted students and their families. Tours are primarily outdoors, are 100% walking, and will last about an hour in total.

Virtual information sessions will be held Monday through Saturday for prospective students and their families. These information sessions will be formal presentations providing overviews of the university and the steps of the application process for prospective and admitted students.

Also, take our virtual tour of campus and our residence halls.

    Additional information for In-person tours:

    • Tours will be held rain or shine -- please come prepared with umbrellas, jackets, or more in case of inclement weather.
    • Summer Tour Weather Advisory: The Richmond area often experiences periods of high temperatures throughout the summer months. Campus tours are primarily outdoors, are 100% walking, and will last about an hour in total. It is encouraged to review the local forecast before arriving on campus. Please come prepared with comfortable shoes, a bottle of water, and anything else you may need to be comfortable on your tour.
    • Should VCU close due to inclement weather, tours will be canceled, and registrants will be notified via email about rescheduling options. You can also visit the VCU Alert website for the university's current operating status.

To ensure a safe experience for everyone involved, the visitors of the Welcome Center and Office of Admissions will be considered to be a part of our community and are therefore required to follow the same health and safety guidelines as the rest of the university community.

Based on direction from the Governor, as well as the recommendation from health and safety experts on VCU's Public Health Response Team, VCU community members and visitors who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks indoors or outdoors on campus when physical distancing guidelines can be maintained.

Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving their second dose of a two-dose vaccination series (such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines) or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (such as Johnson and Johnson's Janssen vaccine).

Those who are not fully vaccinated should continue to wear masks indoors and outdoors.

Per university policy and guidance from public health officials, all visitors, registrants and their guests are required to:

    • Wear a face mask for the duration of their time on campus, if not fully vaccinated. This includes indoors and outdoors. Masks can be provided if you do not have one.
    • Social distance (6 feet or more) from tour participants, except among family members.
    • Sanitize upon entry into buildings when hand sanitizer is available.
    • Have temperature checked upon arrival for tour check-in. If a guest's temperature is recorded above 100°F/38°C, we will be unable to accommodate them on a guided tour.
    • Reschedule their tour if feeling unwell. We recommend calling or emailing our office 24 hours in advance so we can assist in rescheduling. We can be reached at (800) 841-3638 or ugrad@vcu.edu.

Failure to comply with the policies above may result in the cancelation of the visit in its entirety. The safety of our community is of the utmost importance to us, and we appreciate your cooperation.
